Maritime Alert Center – telecommunications and safety control at sea.

The Emergency Alert 112, the Icelandic Coast Guard and the Icelandic Association for Search and Rescue (ICE-SAR) establish the Maritime Alert Center.

The center provides it safety services to seafarers from one location.

The center‘s duties include overseeing and controlling emergency telecommunication, controlling the automatic Ship Reporting Duty, and general radio communications with ships and boats.

The center also provides the Safe Sea Net (SSN) service in Iceland.
