Denying a relationship, as by not introducing a spouse to one’s family as well as to pressure for physical changes is mental abuse in both cases.

Queer people will rather experience prejudice and discrimination in the community than those who are not queer and it involves pressure, often called minority pressure. Queer people can be abused at home as well. This way there are no places safe and the trauma still greater.

Elísa always says that it is due to some drama regarding her former girlfriend but Hulda is afraid that the reason is that she is a transwoman.

When Hulda questions Elísa about this, Elísa says that she doesn’t want to introduce her to her family unless Hulda has a corrective surgery.
