Free Legal Counseling

If you need legal advice regarding a case of violence, you can talk to a counselor at the Women's Counseling Center. The Women's Counseling Center provides support and advice to women, but the counseling is also open to men. The counseling is free of charge. You don't need to provide your name or other personal information to get advice.

The Women's Counseling Center is on the 2nd floor, but there is no elevator in the building. If you are in a wheelchair, you need to mention it, and then you will be received on the 1st floor.

If you need a language interpreter, help is sought from W.O.M.E.N. (Association of Foreign Women in Iceland) which is in the same building, but it's not guaranteed that a language interpreter will be available. Please contact us first so they can check if it's possible to get an interpreter.

The Women's Counseling Center does not pay for sign language interpreters.

The Women's Counseling Center is located at Túngata 14 (Hallveigarstaðir) in Reykjavík. Opening hours are Tuesdays from 20:00 to 22:00 and Thursdays from 14:00 to 16:00. You can both come to the location and call the phone number 552 1500.
