A connection between the public and emergency responders

Neyðarlínan is responsible for emergency and security services in Iceland and operates the 112 Emergency Response Centre, the Maritime Watch Centre, and the Tetra communications system.

Neyðarlínan is in close contact with the police as well as rescue and emergency teams throughout the country.

Emergency operators

Emergency operators work in the ward. Emergency operators handle response for 112, analyse cases, guide and activate the appropriate responders. Work is done in shifts around the clock, every day of the year.

Engineering

The technical department includes the working group that is responsible for the development, operation and maintenance of emergency and safety communications systems in Iceland. The systems are used by both emergency responders all over the country and seafarers.

Office

At the Neyðarlínan office, there are staff who are responsible for the day-to-day operation of the institution as well as the management of the extensive equipment that Neyðarlínan owns.
