For young people on young people's terms

Bergið headspace supports and provides service for young people under 25 years old. It offers counselling and education which is adapted to each individual. No problem is too small or too big.

It can be accessed by wheelchairs. Counsellors speak Icelandic and English. You can have sign language interpretation and language interpretation if needed.

You can come to Bergið, call Bergið and/or chat with Bergið through web chat on their website. There's also a Bergið centre in Skólastígur, Akureyri. The web chat is open on workdays from 9 am to 5 pm. Outside opening hours you can send a message and you will receive a reply as quickly as possible.

The Sick Love Chat

The Sick love chat is an anonymous chat for young people who seek advice about their relationships, communication or violence.


Vopnabúrið is a gym and a leisure center that provides counseling and support to children and teenagers in need.


The Red Cross Helpline 1717 is a phone service and webchat for those who need someone to talk to in confidentiality. They are open 24 hours, and it's free to call.

Teenagers and abuse

Abuse is about controlling, intimidating and humiliating the other person to gain dominance and maintain control. Teenagers can suffer from all kinds of abuse, between themselves, at home or from others.
